State Planning Grant II Steering Committee Activities

Focus and Goals

The mission of the SPG II Regional Steering Committee is to evaluate and improve the potential of alternative health coverage options for the working uninsured in the Metro Richmond region. The multi-sector Steering Committee will complete an initial phase of three meetings in October and November to evaluate a model health coverage product developed under the SPG I project. Depending on the results the Steering Committee may decide to endorse or refine the model product, or recommend development of alternatives. If the Steering Committee recommends a product for further development, the group will undertake a second phase aimed at developing the necessary policy structure and market preparation to make the model product available to consumers. This second phase is likely to last six to 18 months depending on the scope and content of the health coverage product.
