MEPS-IC - Special Notice
Data Update: Estimates of the percent of private sector employees who are enrolled in self-insured plans return.
In late May 2007, MEPS-IC detected a computation error that affected the data provided in Tables B.2.b.(1) Percent of private-sector employees that are enrolled in self-insured plans at establishments that offer health insurance. The tables for years 1999-2004 were pulled down from the MEPS Web site at that time. The corrected tables have now been posted on the MEPS Web site for all years 1996-2005. MEPSnet has also been updated and the on-line state spreadsheets have been updated for the most recent years. Spreadsheets for earlier years will be updated shortly. Please note that the problem with this table did NOT affect the spreadsheet titled “State-level estimates by purchased/self-insured plans” that is distributed to this mailing list each year. For more information, visit http://www.meps.ahrq.gov/mepsweb/index.jsp

http://www.psc.isr.umich.edu/census2000/ - SHADAC Medicaid Undercount Conference
On December 6, SHADAC sponsored its first national web conference on the Medicaid Undercount to address questions including whether the survey "undercount" of Medicaid enrollment impacts state estimates of uninsurance. The conference included more than 60 participants from more than 25 states, as well as several federal agencies and other research and policy organizations. The web conference covered what we know about potential sources of discrepancy between what survey and administrative data estimate for Medicaid enrollment. Kathleen Call was the key presenter. Her presentation included past, ongoing and future research exploring the factors contributing to the undercount and what to do about it. The conference is available for online viewing, and Kathleen’s slide handouts are also available for download.
